Media Systems Analyst Interview
Anonymous Interview Candidate in Saint Paul, MN
Application
I applied online. The procedure took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Mayo Clinic (Saint Paul, MN) in Feb 2022
Interview
Applied and received an interview invite virtually 2 weeks later on. Get-go interview was virtual with a panel of three people and was mostly for me to tell them about myself and talk about the position a little more and ask questions. Asked why I was interested. The interviewers were all nice and easy to talk to. Was told in the interview that information technology was a three-interview process and the tertiary interview would be with HR doing behavioral questions. Was invited for a second interview about 3 days later. I was worried because if the third interview was supposed to be behavioral questions, what would they ask me in the second interview? I prepared as many behavioral answers as possible and also prepared how exactly I would be adept for the job based on bullet points in the advertising for the job (that was a waste of time). The 2nd interview was as well virtual, but with 5 people, 3 of whom were the same people from the first. They asked me again to tell them about myself and I tried to brand my scripted schpeel a little different so I didn't sound repetitive to the original folks. They asked me ix behavioral questions (and they put the questions in the chat box so I could read them again if needed which was helpful) and 4-5 follow ups. I was given a chance to ask questions at the end and so they told me they'd be making offers the next calendar week (no 3rd interview afterward all) and they'd allow me know. On Midweek of the next week I got a rejection email. Was difficult to transport a thank you letter subsequently the interviews considering they were ready by a fantastic admin assistant and contact info for the panel was kept private. I sent the thank you emails to the admin and asked her to forward them. While most of the interviewers were nice, the two new ones in the second interview felt wholly uninterested in my answers. Not that the interview shouldn't have been difficult but it was pretty brutal. I tried to focus on the nicer people, but the reactions from the ones who had no involvement in me for sure impacted my confidence. Fix your face off if you get an interview! Mayo has videos on YouTube on how to prepare (pretty basic but kind of helpful). Don't answer with something too vague if you can't think of annihilation- I did once or twice when the question was very specific to the position and I'1000 sure that was my downfall. I also wrote a thank yous email too quickly/nervously and put the wrong proper name for one of the interviewers. Was non surprised to receive a rejection.
